Lulu Guinness, famous for her unique and inspired handbags and accessories, wasn’t always at the apex of the design world.  In 1989, after leaving a job in video production, Lulu started her design business from the humble beginnings of the basement of her home in West London.  Despite not having any formal design training apart from a foundation course at art school, Lulu’s long-standing passion for fashion drove her to succeed.

It didn’t take long before her exquisite, witty handbags became the must-have accessory for even the most discriminating fashion aficionado.  Wild praise in the fashion media paved the way for Lulu Guinness shops in London, New York, and Tokyo.  Her collectable bags, described as “tomorrow’s treasures”, have been collected by many museums.  Designs have even been subjects of exhibitions in Sotheby’s London and New York and included in the permanent collections at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Lulu’s strong personal style and original ideas have played an integral part in her success.  Much of her distinct design is inspired from the retro glamour of the 40’s and 50’s combined with the modern chic of today’s woman.

In 2001, to complement her bags, Lulu launched the first of her accessory collections with a stylish footwear series. The success of this new venture encouraged her to create further accessory ranges, including fragrances, scarves and shawls, socks and hosiery, and umbrellas.

Lulu’s latest design achievement is a stunning eyewear line incorporating both optical and sunglasses.  Demonstrating her sparkling originality and design precision, this collection is a must-see for anyone who appreciates beauty in its purest form.  “Eyewear is possibly the most personal item a woman can wear”, Lulu says.  “Nothing can change an appearance so dramatically as a stylish pair of spectacles or sunglasses”.
